Fight or Fright - The Behind The Scenes Podcast Returns!!
Hi everyone! Alex here, and I just wanted to pop in with a little update about Fight or Fright!
Firstly, I just wanted to say thank you for checking out the game! It's my first one, and I hope it will inspire your halloween adventures in the future. I really adored making this game, and I'm confident that it's got an exciting future. Stay tuned for the second part of this year!
In the mean time, you may know that this game had it's design chronicled through my podcast Wait, Roll That Again! Well, that show has retunred, highlighting the four conversations I had to get this game across the line! Below the image, you'll find some details on the podcast, but if you want to jump into listening to it, click here: https://www.buzzsprout.com/2203539/episodes/16462994-s2e1-moments-and-mechanics-...

On the Second Season of Wait, Roll That Again, brand-new designer Alex is going to finish his first ever tabletop game. He’ll need to learn all about mechanics design, player agency, and tackle some big playtesting challenges!
Wait, Roll That Again is a podcast about learning how to design tabletop roleplaying games and this season we’re talking to experienced designers and putting their advice into practice. Each episode is a tightly-edited 30 minutes that’s all killer, no filler. This season, Alex is back to working on his first TTRPG, a Halloween Trick-Or-Treating game called Fight or Fright!
At the end of the first season, Alex playtested the first version of his game. But when he picked those documents back up, he felt lost all over again. This season follows the four conversations he had that helped him get the game across the line.
Over these four episodes, you’ll hear from Cezar Capacle (Against The Wind, Everspark), Ema Acosta (Crescent 2E, EXILE), Sam Dunnewold (The Dice Exploder Podcast, Band-Aids and Bullet Holes), and Thomas Manuel (Rascal News, The Yes Indie'd Podcast)!
These designers and creators give Alex the tools to finish his first game, and distill some excellent game design advice that’s sure to kickstart your next projects, or at the very least teach you something new about the practice of game design.
This season, while connected to the show’s first, can be enjoyed by new and returning listeners alike! Episode one drops January 30th, with episodes releasing weekly after that.
Here's when you can enjoy these episodes:
- Episode One: Moments and Mechanics as Toys (ft. Cezar Capacle) - Jan 30th
- Episode Two: Reach Across the Screen (ft. Em Acosta) - Feb 6th
- Episode Three: Playtesting, and A Telling Off (ft. Sam Dunnewold) - Feb 13th
- Episode Four: Does Narrative Matter? (ft. Thomas Manuel) - Feb 20th
